This weekend saw Team PS. ( Portable Shade ) participate in the 50 – 80 Km Senseless Summer Adventure Race.

Before I tell you how well we did I must complement Steve, Andrew and AssitPort on putting together an awesome race!

The format is unique in that you have Compulsory points and optional points and a cut off time after which you are penalized for being late.

We were given 7h 30 min to complete the race.

This format makes it really strategic to decide on your race strategy and decide how many OP’s you can collect in time.

PS. CUL8R Gregory Avierinos and Alexander Ham came 1st Open Male they went for all the OP’s abandoning one 10 min OP which they could not find, this cost them 2nd overall as they lost to the red ants by 2 min!

PS. 3 Fatty’s on bikes David Avierinos, Daniel Patrick and Timothy Chambers 3rd Open male they went for very few Op’s counting on finishing in a really quick time and the strategy paid of to some extent with their 3rd .

PS. Ruthless Alec Avierinos and Ruth Avierinos 3rd Mixed we went for as many OP’s as possible we were out there for 7 hours and had a blast for a change my navigation was pretty spot on and we only battled with CP13 which we eventually found with some assistance from Kobus it was 1m + under water!! The Hike, Kloof, Tube leg was the highlight. Ruth was a star at 13 this was her longest race to date and she loved it even climbing the rock face to fetch CP 15. This race with my daughter is one of my AR highlights!!

PS. Hawkstone Kobus van Zyl and Charlene Roux were going for broke collecting all the Op’s unfortunately they finished 10 min late and incurred 1h30 min in time penalties which blew the race for them.

So as you can see from our results differing strategies and results but what a great race and the JUNIORS really excelled. They are coming of age!!
